What Is A Commercial EPC?

I'm Andrew Amos, a commercial EPC assessor with over 15 years of experience. A Commercial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows the energy efficiency and carbon emissions of a building, rated from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). I provide detailed EPCs that include (non-mandatory) recommendations, such as upgrading heating, improving insulation, or replacing lighting, designed to help property owners reduce running costs and enhance energy performance.

When Is A Commercial EPC Needed?

A commercial EPC is legally required whenever a building is constructed, sold, rented, or advertised, or when written information is provided about it. The landlord or vendor must obtain the EPC within 28 days of the property becoming available to the market, ensuring legal compliance and transparency for potential buyers or tenants.

EPC Validity & Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards

A commercial EPC is valid for 10 years. Since April 2018, landlords cannot legally let or renew tenancies for properties rated F or G. Upcoming regulations require C ratings by 2027/2028 and B ratings by 2030. Sales, rentals, tenancy renewals and continuing tenancies require EPC compliance require EPC compliance to meet energy efficiency standards. As a commercial EPC assessor, I can help you understand these requirements and ensure your property remains fully compliant.

We were required to obtain an EPC certificate when letting one of our commercial properties. Andrew Amos Commercial Energy was prompt and efficient, and within no time we had all of the documentation in place. We would not hesitate to instruct Andrew again.
